The doctor can do several different tests to determine how the thyroid is functioning. They will measure how many thyroid and pituitary hormones are in the blood. The doctor can also do a radioactive iodine uptake or thyroid scan.

Most people take medications to treat thyroid conditions. You can probably just take a thyroid hormone to take care of any problem. The treatment actually does not cost very much money and it can cure a lot of problems for most people.
